The first National Security Cutter, Bertholf (WMSL 750) 57 mm gun
The BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun is a multi-purpose, medium caliber gun. The Mk 110 is based on Bofors Defence 57-mm Mk 3 naval gun, the Mk 110 can fire salvos at up to 220 rounds per minute, and has a range of nine miles. The Mk 110 Naval Gun system delivers high rates of fire with extreme accuracy against surface, airborne and shore-based threats with proven effective 6-mode programmable 57-mm Mk 295 ammunition.
Because of its effectiveness and its high rate of fire, the 57mm Mk110 can put as many or more explosives on target than, for example, a 76mm gun.
Current and proposed mounting for the weapon
